Fields like Journalism, Education, and Business etc. are dying out as years go on, because of the economy, yet students still major in them, in hopes that by the time they are done with their education there will be jobs...
I am a speech major at Brooklyn College, and i know that there are not that many jobs available for hiring but I love it, and I love public speaking and proper speaking, it is something ive always wanted to do so I don't care about the money, i'll take what i can get.
The more people who strive for what they want to be and stand behind what they really want to do in life will hopefully take a stand so that these job feilds stay put!
Im a physical education major and I know there arnt many openings when I graduate. But there is no point going to a college/university and obtaining a degree in a subject that I dislike.
people need to keep going for things that are dying out, or else everyone would be going for things that aren't dying out like the medical field.. it keeps everything in balance although they aren't hiring now, students have the opportunity to continue their education before starting work rather than working while acquiring a higher degree.. when jobs do open up in these fields, there will be many educated people ready to begin immediately
I am a Journalism major at Brooklyn College, and I know jobs are slacking in that field, because technology has taken over newspapers, but I still stay involved because I have a certain desire for it.
